My Background & My Tryst with Ayurveda
Namaste! Curious to know who I am and how I ended up here? Well here goes...Till I took up Ayurveda, I spent twenty some years working in the corporate world as an engineer. So, I am all too familiar with the daily grind and the toll it puts on one's system. Through these years I struggled to cope and perpetually sought that often elusive work-life balance through diet, workouts or with material distractions. Along the way, I found yoga (and spirituality via Art-of-Living Institute), which helped a great deal and created in me a curiosity about finding equanimity of mind & body. I learned later that mind, body and spirit are interconnected and any shift in one usually affects the other two (the term psychosomatic is well acknowledged by even the modern science now). I had been contemplating a career shift (to something more meaningful) for quite a while but didn't quite know yet what I wanted to do next. An unfavorable organizational change gave me that final push and I finally decided to move on. As I was trying to figure out the new direction for my life, the pandemic happened and that turned out to be a turning point in my life in more ways than one! While it was undoubtedly a very difficult time for the entire planet, it ignited in me an even greater quest for living well and in harmony. with one's outer and inner worlds. This is when I started to research natural and holistic wellness modalities from around the world. As luck would have it, a video of an Indian ascetic in conversation with a celebrated Ayurvedic scholar/doctor appeared on my YT feed, I clicked on it and watched the whole conversation. I was so impressed and intrigued by what I saw that I decided to enroll in a formal Ayurveda study program. I went into it a bit skeptical (courtesy my science background), but as I dove into it deeper, I began to clearly see the logic and science behind it all. I have had the great fortune to kick start my learning under the tutelage of the great Dr Vasant Lad. of Ayurvedic Institute, NC and complete it with Dr Raut of Ananda Ayurveda Academy, IL. My wish now is to share this ancient wisdom with all of you. I am especially passionate about digestive imbalances and women's health which I feel is one of the most under-addressed areas of wellness care.
